Herringbone paver driveways

The strongest interlocking pattern, and the reason it is the default for vehicle surfaces.

Why herringbone

The 45 or 90 degree interlock transfers load sideways across the field instead of letting individual pavers rotate under a tyre. On driveways it is not a style choice.

Borders and banding

A soldier course border gives the field a clean termination, hides cuts and frames the pattern. Contrasting banding can break up a large expanse.

What to know

Herringbone means more cuts at every edge, which is saw time — one reason it costs more than a simple running bond.

Whatever the material, the base under it and the water around it decide how it looks in ten years.
