Large quarried blocks used for retaining and feature walls on bigger properties.

Where it works

Slopes on larger lots, terracing, and properties where manufactured block would look out of place against the house.

What to know

Placement is machine work. The base has to be excavated and compacted to carry the load, and drainage behind the stone matters exactly as much as with block.

Look

Weathers rather than fades. No two courses are identical, which is the point.

Whatever the material, the base under it and the water around it decide how it looks in ten years.
